De Mille sarcasm

I have been reading some thrillers by Nelson De Mille and enjoying the humour and sarcasm of the male protagonists.

An example from Wild Fire

Women, I’ve noticed, are easily distracted by clothing stores, and I was certain that the ladies on the Titanic stopped at the ship’s appparel shop for the Half-Price Sinking Sale on their way to the lifeboats.

The other side of his books is the strong plots.  Wild Fire is especially good with a chilling, fascinating nuclear strategy for the post Cold War situation.  I have often wondered why there have not been more large attacks since 9/11.  Wild Fire offers a reason for that quiet.  A highly recommended read.
