toad – watercolour digital effect

this started out as a digital camera image, but after some manipulation in imaging software it looks somewhat like a watercolour painting, at least to my eye
thumbs, non-green and out of shape
I have no green thumb, but despite that I attempted a gardening blitz today. At the end of the day both my thumbs were cramping into a claw like position of some concern. A little hot water in the bathroom sink helped that. I toted up what I had done today. The assembly of the new lawnmower (push) started me off by the necessity of twisting slowly on to the handle top the handle's rubber tube cover. Even with liquid soap this took some twenty minutes of twisting. Dug up about four chunks of gouty weed and transplanted them. Then dug a few holes, not that many really, for some shrubs, but the ground was hard packed and full of old cedar roots and small stones. Chopping the old root network with the spade probably was what did in my hands. At any rate, it is disconcerting to lose control over your thumbs and to feel the tightness of the cramp as the thumb folds all on its own command hard into the palm of one's hand.
On the plus side, the old toad, who is getting gargantuan hopped by when I was unravelling the garden hose. He is always welcome and may one day soon block out the sun.
